A tragic fire at the Pulse nightclub in Kocani, North Macedonia, has claimed 51 lives and left over 100 injured. The fire broke out around 3:00 AM local time during a concert by the hip-hop duo DNK, with around 1,500 people in attendance.
Officials say the fire started due to sparks from pyrotechnic devices, which ignited the club’s flammable ceiling. Within moments, the flames spread rapidly. Footage from the scene shows the building engulfed in fire.
Some arrests have been made, and authorities are investigating the cause of the disaster. Many of the injured, suffering severe burns, have been transferred to hospitals in Skopje for treatment.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski called it a “difficult and very sad day” for the country and assured that the government is taking necessary actions to deal with the tragedy.
