Steve Smith announced his ODI retirement after Australia’s semi-final loss to India in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Smith scored 73 runs, helping Australia set a target of 265, which India chased down with 11 balls to spare.
Reflecting on his career, Smith said, Winning two World Cups (2015, 2023) and sharing memories with fantastic teammates has been a privilege.
The 34-year-old, who debuted in 2010, played 170 ODIs, scoring 5,800 runs with 12 centuries and 35 fifties. Smith will now focus on Test cricket, including the World Test Championship final against South Africa in June.
