In a powerful address to the nation following the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a stern warning to Pakistan, declaring that India would no longer turn a blind eye to cross-border terrorism.
Addressing the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which took the lives of 26 civilians, the Prime Minister described it as “the most barbaric face of terrorism”. He strongly condemned Pakistan’s continued support to terrorist networks and made it clear that the time for patience is over.
He said, “Terror and talks can’t go hand in hand, terror and trade can’t go hand in hand, water and blood can’t flow together.” These words underline India’s policy shift — moving away from diplomacy until Pakistan stops sponsoring terror activities.
Revealing that Pakistan had reached out amid ongoing military operations, Modi shared, “Pakistan pleaded with us to stop attacks but we considered it only after they promised to stop their misadventure.” He confirmed that India has paused, not stopped, its actions — and further steps will depend entirely on how Pakistan behaves going forward.
On the issue of nuclear threats from across the border, the Prime Minister stood firm, saying, “India will not tolerate any form of nuclear blackmail. We will take decisive action against terrorist bases operating under the guise of such threats.”
He also exposed Pakistan’s deep links with terror outfits, stating, “The world witnessed the grim reality of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, when top officials of the Pakistani military openly stood in solidarity with terrorists. This stands as the strongest evidence of state-sponsored terrorism.”
Making India’s new approach clear, Modi said, “Operation Sindoor is now India’s new policy against terrorism, a new line has been drawn.” He firmly stated that if any dialogue is to happen with Pakistan in the future, “talks with Pakistan can only happen on terror and return of PoK and nothing else.”
This marks a bold shift in India’s national security strategy — emphasizing that action will replace negotiation when it comes to dealing with terrorism.
