The buzz around Hera Pheri 3 has taken a bittersweet turn with veteran actor Paresh Rawal officially stepping away from the much-awaited comedy film. Known for his iconic portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, his absence has not only disappointed die-hard fans but also left his fellow co-stars heartbroken.
After Suniel Shetty, it’s now Johny Lever who has voiced his heartfelt concern over Paresh Rawal’s exit. In a recent interview, Lever shared that the essence of Hera Pheri would be incomplete without Rawal’s presence. He urged the senior actor to rethink his decision, adding, “Unke bina mazaa nahi aayega. Baith kar baat kar leni chahiye, fans unhe miss karenge. (It won’t be fun without him. The matter should be sorted out through dialogue, because fans will definitely miss him).”
For those unaware, Paresh Rawal confirmed his departure from the project on May 18 via a post on X. While he clarified that the decision wasn’t due to any creative conflicts, the news was soon followed by a legal notice demanding ₹25 crore, reportedly sent by Cape of Good Films, the production house led by Akshay Kumar.
On May 25, Rawal shared that his legal representative, Ameet Naik, had already responded with a detailed explanation justifying his exit. He expressed confidence that once the production team reviews it, the matter would be peacefully resolved. At a recent event, Akshay Kumar was asked to comment on the issue, to which he replied, “This isn’t the right platform to discuss such matters. It’s now under legal consideration, so I’d rather not speak about it.”
Meanwhile, Johny Lever also shared some light-hearted insight into his own involvement in Hera Pheri 3. Jokingly, he said, “Mujhe bhi Hera Pheri ki dhamki mil chuki hai—ki aap booked ho! (Even I’ve received a ‘threat’ from the makers saying I’m already booked for the film!).”
The Hera Pheri franchise, which began in 2000 with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, quickly became a beloved classic. The 2006 sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, only deepened its cult status. Naturally, the anticipation for the third installment has been sky-high, and Paresh Rawal’s absence has left fans feeling emotionally disconnected.
While the legal matters unfold, fans across the country continue to hope for a miracle — that Baburao will return, and the original trio will once again bring laughter to the big screen.
