On June 21, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations from the scenic coastline of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Addressing thousands gathered along a 26-kilometre stretch from Ramakrishna Beach to Bhogapuram, he highlighted yoga’s role in uniting the world through peace and well-being.
“I extend my greetings to the people from across the world on this occasion of International Yoga Day. Today, for the 11th time, the whole world is doing yoga together on 21st June. The simple meaning of yoga is to join. And it is wonderful to see how yoga has connected the whole world,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister reflected on India’s 2014 proposal to the United Nations to recognise June 21 as International Yoga Day—an initiative supported by 175 countries. “This unity and support in today’s world is not a normal incident,” he remarked, emphasizing the global resonance of yoga.
Calling yoga a timeless gift that surpasses age, culture, and physical limitations, PM Modi noted, “Yoga is for everyone beyond boundaries, beyond backgrounds, beyond age or physical ability. It is a universal gift that unites humanity in health, harmony, and consciousness.”
He praised Andhra Pradesh’s leadership for hosting the celebration and commended the efforts of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. The event was made even more memorable by the presence of Indian Navy ships anchored nearby, enhancing the visual grandeur.
PM Modi added, “Be it the steps of the Sydney Opera House, the peaks of Everest, or the expanse of the ocean. The message everywhere is the same – Yoga belongs to all and is for all.”
As the world grapples with rising tension and unrest, he reminded everyone of yoga’s healing power. “Unfortunately, today, the entire world is going through some tension and unrest… Yoga is the pause button that humanity needs to breathe, balance, and become whole again.”
He concluded with a global call to action: “Come, let us all together make yoga a mass movement… Where yoga becomes the medium to bind humanity together and where Yoga For One Earth, One Health becomes a global resolution.”
The 2025 celebration centred around the theme: ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ aiming to inspire collective well-being across nations.
